Achievements of Wang Jianlin the president of Wanda Group

Wang Jianlin, born in 1954, a Communist Party member and an advanced engineer, is the board chairman and president of Dalian Wanda Group Co., Ltd. With strong intention of development and innovation he established his unique position in modern company management and real estate development. Under his leadership, after 16 years of development Wanda Group has grown into a large company with residential and commercial real estate as its two major businesses.

Residential real estate is one of the fundamental businesses of Wanda Group, and the total development area exceeded 10 million square meters. Wanda Group Real Estate Company Management Co., Ltd. is elected to be the first-class developing company by Construction Ministry. From 1999 Wanda Group started the strategy of developing across regions and in large scale. At present it has built residential houses in cities such as Beijing, Changchun, Jilin, Nanjing, Nachang, Chengdu, Kunming, Shanghai, Ningbo, and so on. As the leading company in real estate industry Wanda got the praise of colleagues in real estate industry, there is a saying that Wanke is famous in South China and Wanda is famous in North China. In the beginning of 1996 Wanda Group became famous by putting forward three promises to the public according to the low quality, area shortage, and deceitful sales in real estate industry. The three promises had a big effect in real estate market, and it brought the change of ethos in real estate field and gained the affirmation of public. In June of 2000 six units such as Construction Ministry, China Consumer Association, Economy Daily, and so on, held a meeting of thousands people in the Great Hall of the People to recommend the three promises of Wanda Group, moreover, Wanda group proposed to sell confident houses around the country. Yu Zhengsheng who was the minister of Construction Ministry at that time highly praised Wanda Group. Wanda Group is the only real estate company being recommended by Construction Ministry, and it is also the first time for Construction Ministry to recommend a real estate company. In March of 2000 the government of Dalian city released files particularly to call on the companies in real estate industry to learn from Wanda Group, and it is also the first case till now that government releases a file to recommend a real estate company.

Commercial real estate is another fundamental businesses of Wanda Group and Wanda initiated the totally new mode of “order form commercial real estate” in China. At present Wanda Group has signed the contracts with 12 international chain companies such as Wal-Mart, Time-Warner, and so on to develop the projects of Wanda shopping mall in big and medium cities in China. Till the end of 2004 fifteen Wanda shopping malls have been built which made Wanda a dominant company in commercial real estate. The mode of “order form commercial real estate” is an important innovation that helps China real estate develop properly. Therefore, Wang Jianlin became the chairman of China Commercial Real Estate Federation and was elected as an outstanding person with huge contribution, and Wanda Group was rewarded as an outstanding company in China real estate.

For 16 years from the establishment Wanda Group persists the operation principle of credibility and gains the praises from government and public. On the China Credibility Forum held in Dalian in 2004, Wang Jianlin in representative of participants announced the proclaims, and Wanda Group proposed to establish China Credibility Federation in order to help the development of China’s credibility. Wanda Group has been elected to be the credible company, tax paying VIP, credible financing company, and famous brand company by various departments.

At the same time of engaging in the development of Wanda Group Wang Jianlin also engaged enthusiastically in culture business. Wanda football team supported by Wanda Group, created proud achievements by getting an honor of “dream team” in China football field. Yue Bao Zhai a gallery belonged to Wanda Group was famous for its collection of calligraphy and paintings. Every year Wanda group promoted the culture communication by exhibiting the collections to public for free. In June of 2004 Wanda Group held a global exhibition with more than 70 paintings of Wu Guanzhong, and represented China to attend the Sino-French culture communication activity. Wanda invested to build international multi-hall chain cinemas in cooperation with Time-Warner, which pushed the opening and modernization of China film business and enriched culture life of people.

For more than ten years Wanda Group has contributed to the public affairs with a total donation of more than 800 million yuan, which has achieved high praise of public. Wanda group as the only company invested to rebuild university cost 500 million yuan to rebuild Dalian university, and as vice chairman unit of Dalian Educational Fund Committee Wanda Group spent large amount of money to build Dalian experiment school, moreover, it invested to build more than ten hope elementary schools in Liaoning, Sichuan, Guizhou, Jilin and so on. In 2003 when SARS overwhelmed in China Wanda Group donated 100 million yuan firstly in Dalian

In more than ten years Wang Jianlin got numberless awards. He is invited to be the consultant of economy development in west region of China; he is the consultant of Yunnan province, construction consultant of Guiyang government; honorable citizen of Changchun city, outstanding contributor of Dalian city’s construction; he is awarded to be an advanced personnel of mental civilization construction in China real estate, a top grade model worker of Dalian city many times, excellent party member; Wang also is the chairman of the first annual meeting of China residential and commercial industry, vice president of the association against unfair competition. In the recent activity named “20 domestic entrepreneurs in 20 years” supported by China Business Newspaper, Wang Jianlin got the honor.

In November of 2005, Wang Jianlin was awarded first "China Charity Prize" by Ministry of Civil Affairs.

In March, 2007, Wanda Group was awarded the second China Charity Prize by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Wanda Group was the only awarded private enterprise of the year.

Wanda Group was appraised as the 2006 CCTV Employer of the Year , and was the only real estate enterprise who won the prize.
